With the theme \u201cHarnessing Technologies for Truth-Making: Empowering Local Governments and Media Against Mis- and Disinformation,\u201d the event brought together journalists, local government officials, and industry leaders to address the challenges of false information in today\u2019s digital world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The congress opened with an inspiring speech from Nelson Santos, PAPI President, who stressed the vital role of collaboration between media professionals and local government units (LGUs) in safeguarding truth and transparency. Santos underscored the need to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies to combat the growing sophistication of disinformation campaigns. \u201cThis congress is more than a gathering\u2014it\u2019s a collective call to action to protect our democracy by upholding the integrity of information,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
