OPA Distributes 5,000 Freswater Prawns to Cavite Farmers

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) headed by its Officer-in-Charge, Engr. Anna Pamela Nova-Cruz, through the Fishery Extension section led by Mr. Eldrich H. Caparas, Aquaculturist II, distributed a total of 5,000 freshwater prawns (ulang) to 22 fisherfolk beneficiaries in Cavite on July 18, 2025, at the OPA Administrative Lobby in Trece Martires, City.

To ensure the proper handling and cultivation of the prawns, Ms. Sheryl Luna, Aquaculturist II led a brief orientation on freshwater prawn culture and stocking techniques, equipping the recipients with basic knowledge on freshwater prawn farming.

In her closing message, Engr. Nova-Cruz encouraged the fisherfolks to reach out to their office whenever they need guidance. She assured everyone that the OPA team is always ready to provide support and assistance in their aquaculture journey.

The initiative reflects the province’s commitment to empowering local fisherfolk and promoting sustainable aquaculture practices. (R.Tanael)
