Wildfires claim 13 lives in Los Angeles County

NEW YORK – At least 13 people have died as wildfires continue to ravage Los Angeles County, California, NBC News reported.

According to the report, eight fatalities occurred in the Eaton fire area, while another five were reported in Palisades.

Earlier, County Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed 11 deaths and announced that 13 individuals remain missing.

The wildfires, which ignited on Jan. 7, have been fueled by dry and windy weather conditions, accelerating their spread across the region.

Nearly 180,000 residents have been issued evacuation orders to ensure their safety.

The fires have caused widespread destruction, with over 12,300 structures reduced to ash and damages estimated in the tens of billions of dollars.

Local authorities and emergency responders are working around the clock to combat the blazes and support affected communities. (TASS)
